Trainee AI and Data Science for Renewables Trading (all)

At BKW we use advanced AI and data science techniques to continuously improve our activities in the trading of renewable energies. In this 18-month trainee programme, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to this exciting field. The programme starts on 1 September 2025.

Your field

  • You will spend six months in each of three BKW divisions in the forefront of innovation in energy. These include our subsidiary Wind Energy Trading in Lausanne, the AI & Innovation Team and our Data & Project Management in Energy Trading (both in Bern)
  • This trainee position will provide a comprehensive understanding of our operations, equipping you with the skills and experience needed to contribute to our data-driven initiatives
  • Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing solutions to validate incoming data, optimizing forecasting models using advanced techniques to improve predictive capabilities, and enhancing data quality and plausibility through rigorous data analysis
  • Also, you will engage in cross-team projects that span the three mentioned departments, ensuring your work adds value across the entire organization
  • The program is held in English

What you bring to the role

  • You have a master's degree in data science or a similar specialisation
  • You have an in-depth understanding of AI, ML and data science and have experience in the programming languages Python and R
  • You are interested in the world of energy trading, meteorology and the technical details of the electricity markets. You may even have had your first contact with renewable energy trading
  • You are proactive, networked and enjoy working with different teams
  • You have a very good knowledge of English and are willing to integrate into a mainly German-speaking company
